JESUS IS THE REASON FOR CHISTMAS, THE HOPE FOR THE WORLD.
Christmas 2020 was very different from other years. With the Covid 19 pandemic, it was not possible to realize the Christmas Parties celebration with the kids that we were used to do every year.
We had a blessed Christmas! We end this year praising the Lord because He is good, and His love endures forever. We praise our Savior that unconditionally loves every single one who is lost. He is the One who can restore and save.
This is the message we took to every single family we visited in the favelas, (slums) bringing the hope that exists in Christ.
There were families who had so little to eat on Christmas eve and they received with thanks what we offered them. It was such a blessing to them! We provided each family a big chicken and a Christmas cake (panettone) , and the kids got a Christmas bag with one toy, one pair of shoes, a set of clothes, and the teenagers got one small panettone (Christmas cake).
Because of the pandemic this year we were not able to do our annual Christmas party we typicallyhold at the day center. Instead, we decided to make a video with our team telling the story ofChristmas for the children and their families and we sent out a link. Those who had a cell phonewere able to watch the video with their kids a week before we came to their house for a home visit.
we were able to divide our team and volunteers into groups to do home visits; each one of the groups were able to share about the real meaning of Christmas “Jesus’s Birth”, for each family, praying and then delivering the gift! It was a very edifying experience; we had the opportunity to reach many families and was unbelievable to see that that some of them didn’t know why we celebrate Christmas today. What was the real means of Christmas
Despite all the difficult covid circumstance we were able to share the Gospel and could see the happiness at the face of the families and their children.
It was such a joy for us to visit the families and to explain about the real reason of Christmas! Some people we visited told us what they had learned from watching the video. Many of the families were impacted by the message and were very open to continue learning about Christ! We prayed, laughed, and cried together with the families – these were very relational moments, and we deeply appreciated the opportunity that Christ provided for us. We wore masks and used the alcohol gel to protect everyone.
We praise God that we were able to sponsor a total of 350 kids and teenagers, and 275 families.
We praise GOD for our partnership that make possible able to blessed many families kids and teenagers.
It was a very different time but was very special and unique,
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
